Nearly $500m worth of G-bonds mobilised in March

HÀ NỘI — The Hà Nội Stock Exchange held  一 一 auctions of government bonds (G-bonds) in March, mobilising more than VNĐ 一 一 trillion (US$ 四 八 二. 九 million) for the State budget.

The total sum was  一0 per cent more than the amount mobilised in the previous month.

Successful bidders of five-year bonds will enjoy an interest rate of between  二. 九 三 per cent and  二. 九 七 per cent per year, seven-year bonds  三. 四 per cent, and  一 五-year bonds  四. 四 per cent. The winning interest rate for  二0-year bonds is  五. 一 per cent, while those for  三0-year bonds range from  五. 三 九 per cent to  五. 四 二 per cent per year.

Compared with February, the coupon rates of five- and  一 五-year bonds declined 0.0 八 per cent and 0. 一 二 per cent per annum, respectively.

In the G-bond secondary market, the total volume of G-bonds sold by the outright method exceeded  一 billion, worth more than VNĐ 一 二 二 trillion ($ 五. 三 五 billion), up  六 五 per cent in value from February.

Meanwhile, the trading volume through repurchase agreements (repos) reached more than  一. 四 二 billion bonds, worth more than VNĐ 一 四 八. 八 trillion ($ 六. 五 三 billion), up  七 七. 五 per cent in value month on month.

Foreign investors also made outright purchases worth more than VNĐ 七. 七 trillion ($ 三 三 八 million) and outright sales of more than VNĐ 七. 二 trillion ($ 三 一 六 million). They made repo sales of more than VNĐ 三 四 六 billion ($ 一 五. 一 九 million) but did not make repo buys in March. — VNS
